A U.S. appeals court ordered Google to remove an anti-Islamic film from its YouTube video-sharing website that had sparked protests across the Muslim world.
The controversial film, billed as a film trailer, depicted the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) as a fool and a sexual deviant. It sparked a torrent of anti-American unrest among Muslims in Egypt, Libya, Pakistan and other countries in 2012.
In a statement, Google said: “We strongly disagree with this ruling and will fight it.”
Youtube is block in Pakistan for this reason. Pakistan government threatened Google to remove anti-Islam video otherwise whole Google will be banned in Pakistan.
Google have been in talks with Pakistani government but no result came out of talks.
Youtube is still blocked in Pakistan while alternative video sites usage grew among Pakistani internet users.
Russian popular social network VKontakte removed all copies of extremism video from its site. Later Russian court also ordered other providers to block the video.
Update: Finally Google knelt before court’s order, have removed anti-Islamic video from youtube but then allowed edited version of that hatred spreading video against Islam.
