Virus discovered which makes CAPTCHA think it is human

Detected by Kaspersky antivirus company, the Trojan-SMS.AndroidOS.Podec has developed a technique to convince CAPTCHA it is a person in order to subscribe thousands of infected Android users to premium-rate services. The Trojan’s goal is to extort money from victims via premium-rate services.


Virus spread through compromised Android application of Vkontakte.

According to data collected with the help of the Kaspersky Security Network, Podec targets Android device users primarily through social network, VKontakte (VK, Other sources discovered by Kaspersky Lab include domains with the names of and Most victims to date have been detected in Russia and surrounding countries.

Vkontakte team have asked its users to install their apps only from official sources.

      Use some antivirus app such as Kaspersky. Don’t use cracked/unofficial sources to download mobile apps.
